The pinnacle of sportive racing. To qualify, enter one of the events that’s part of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series and all you have to do is finish in the top 20% of your age group.
2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Scotland
Sportive Breaks are the official fan and amateur participant travel and experiences provider of the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships in Glasgow and Scotland.
These Championships, featuring 13 World Championships across 7 disciplines including Gran Fondo will be the biggest showcase of two-wheeled action that the world has seen.
The Gran Fondo and Medio Fondo will take place on Friday 4th August 2023 and the Time Trial on Monday 7th August.
Stay in Perth for the Gran Fondo and Time Trial with Sportive Breaks
Stay for 6 nights in Perth so you are in a great location for both the Gran Fondo in Perth (Fri 4 August) and the Time Trial in Dundee (Mon 9th August). You can stay in one place throughout so no need to unpack twice. For the Gran Fondo you are close to the location of the event registrations, the start, the finish, the podium ceremonies, and the after-party. For the Time Trial, we offer transport on Sunday for a course recce, the registration and race briefings. On Monday we also provide transport to Dundee.

Day To Day
Airport Transfers – Available at £40 one way, £80 return
Please make your own arrangements to arrive at our hotel in Perth today or make use of our airport transfers. We provide a regular service from both Edinburgh (EDI) and Glasgow (GLA) airports. We will welcome you at the airport at our welcome desk and your coach will be waiting outside the terminal. We will also transport your bike in its box or bag.
Edinburgh Airport Transfer departure times: 10:15, 11:30, 14:00, 17:00 and 19:50
Glasgow Airport Transfer departure times: 09:30, 11:30, 13:50, 15:30 and 19:30
Transport of Bike Boxes – Available at £20 per bike per journey
If you are travelling with a bike box or bag, then we offer transportation at £20 per bike per journey. Please book this in advance to ensure that there is space on our vehicle.

You are staying at Boutique hotel Leonardo Huntingtower Perth. Breakfasts and evening meals are included with your stay.
What about my bike?
We are operating a centrally located bike store with continuous service from our team of bike mechanics. The bike store is within easy cycling distance of most hotels and close to all important venues in Perth. Bikes can be safely stored either at the hotel or at our bike store. Please check each hotel’s description for the details of where your bike will be stored.
Our mechanic will be available this afternoon at the hotel to assist you with fitting your rental bike or building your own bike after travel.
After breakfast, please ensure that you register for tomorrow’s event. We also offer a guided ride on the Gran Fondo route.
Event Registration
- 09.00 – 18.00 Registration and collection of race packs – Headquarters in Perth at Perth Concert Hall
- 09.00 – 15.00 – Technical briefing for Gran Fondo and Medio Fondo – Headquarters in Perth at Perth Concert Hall.
Guided Ride
After breakfast and any final bike adjustments, we will take you on a supported, guided ride exploring the Gran Fondo course. A short coffee spin has been organised to keep your legs moving, but nothing too strenuous the day before the sportive.
After the ride, please make your way to the event expo in Perth to collect your race pack and attend the technical briefing for tomorrow’s Gran Fondo.

Getting to the start
It’s just a short roll out from each of our hotels to the start line. Please make your own way to the start this morning, based on your own start time. Our staff will be on hand this morning if you have any last-minute mechanical issues, or if you need directions to the start line.

After yesterday’s exertions we will have a relaxing day at the hotel today.
After breakfast, we will load the bikes on our transfer vehicle and we will take you to Dundee. Our team will lead you on a short guided ride of the Time Trial course. You can also register for tomorrow’s event and collect your race pack and attend the official riders briefing in Dundee.
Evening meal at the hotel this evening.
After breakfast, we will transport you and your bike over to the Time Trial course just outside of Dundee. We offer private warm up areas with turbo trainers to warm up and get ready for your slot. This afternoon the podium ceremonies and closing celebrations take place at the event HQ in Dundee. Return transport to the hotel and evening meal. Our team will assist you with preparing your bikes for travel.
Departure after breakfast. We offer an airport transfer leaving Perth at 9am stopping at both Edinburgh and Glasgow airport. If you want to depart at any other time, then we also offer private transfers on request. Please contact us for a quote

The 2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships will take place in Perth, Scotland. The event brings together qualifying cyclists from all over the world. The winner in each age group will have the honour of wearing the coveted rainbow jersey for a year as official UCI Gran Fondo world champion.Launched in 2011, the UCI Gran Fondo World Series (formerly known as the UCI World Cycling Tour) is a series of UCI-sanctioned road races held all over the world. Throughout the 2022-2023 season, a series of events will qualify the top 25% in each age group for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships. The age group winners of the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships are awarded the UCI rainbow jersey. The qualifier events are open to riders of all levels: those who aim to make the podium and others who wish to cross the finish line in the best possible time.
