Real Rider Reviews
We ride stage 17 the day before the pros and then ride up the Col de la Loze on race day to watch the stage finish. We then ride the first half of stage 18 and see the race on the Roseland.
On stage 17 & 18 we get in place early to watch the action on the side of the road. The atmosphere is always lively and this is an experience not to be missed!
As well as all of stage 17 and 18, we also tackle the Grand Colombier on Monday just a day after the Tour with all the graffiti still on the road. A new climb to many, this is a true Alpine classic.
Take on some of the most iconic climbs in the Alps. On our 5 night trip we ride in a loop from Aix les Bains to Annecy via the Trois Vallees & Beaufort taking in all of stage 17 & 18. There is an optional ride on Monday to the Grand Colombier.
From Aix les Bains to Aix les Bains
A ride of four parts. Up the lake from Aix les Bains is full of great views and pancake flat terrain. Then, after 30km of flat stuff its uphill for 15km up the Grand Colombier - just one day after the pros. After a thrilling descent you can either jump in the van or pedal back to our hotel.
From Aix les Bains to Courchevel
You have the choice to pedal from the hotel or jump in the van for 35km and start on the route of the Tour. The main climb is the stunning Col de la Madeleine with glorious views over Mont Blanc. We then have an optional climb up to our base in Courchevel or jump in the van at the spa town of Brides les Bains and cut out the last 20km.
From Courchevel to Courchevel
Tour de France day! We ride the last climb up to Meribel in the morning and then up the Col de la Loze where we watch the race finish. A new climb for the Tour and a perfect place to catch what could be the most decisive stage.
From Courchevel to Beaufort
Following the first steps of stage 18 of the Tour. We ride down from Courchevel and across to Bourg St Maurice and then the main climb of the day, the Cormet de Roselend. Our van is parked on the climb with beers and food while we wait for the Tour to come through. We then descend to our hotel to watch the race on TV.
From Beaufort to Annecy
The final stage of our Tour week. We complete stage 18 with three classic Alpine climbs. Starting with the Col de Saisies and then are straight into Aravis. We then ride to the sharp climb of the Glieres, featured in the Etape 2018 and take in some gravel before rolling into Annecy.
Our 5 night break starts in Aix les Bains and finishes in Annecy. We move hotels most days as we ride and watch the Queen Stages of this year's tour in the Alps.
Arrive at Geneva before 11am and for our transfer. We arrive at our hotel for lunch and build bikes / fit rentals before an optional ride out at 2.30pm to the Grand Colombier. Dinner is at 8pm where we go through the plan for the days ahead.
After a filling breakfast, you choose to ride or jump in the van for the first 35km. The main climb of the day is the Col de la Madeleine, we stop at a cafe at the top for some food and then descend before either riding or jumping into the van to our hotel in Courchevel.
A day to remember watching the tour on a summit finish. We roll out of our hotel and down to Brides les Bains before riding the last climb in the stage up to Meribel and then onto the Col de la Loze. Here we watch the stage finish with the fans before rolling back to our hotel.
Today we ride the first half of Stage 18 on the same day as the pros watching on the beautiful Cormet de Roselend. Our van is waiting on the climb with a picnic while the caravan comes through and we wait for the pros. After they roll past we descend to our hotel and watch the final part of the stage on TV.
One last classic Alpine day with three stunning climbs. Most of the day is climbing or descending as we go over the Saisies, Aravis & Glieres before descending into beautiful Lake Annecy - a worthy finish town for an epic few days of riding.
