The biggest sportive event of the year. The 2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Scotland sees riders from around the world compete for the rainbow jersey in the Time Trial and Road Race. The pinnacle of sportive racing. To qualify, enter one of the events that’s part of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series and all you have to do is finish in the top 20% of your age group.
2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Scotland
Sportive Breaks are the official fan and amateur participant travel and experiences provider of the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships in Glasgow and Scotland.
This is the first time that 13 different cycling world championship disciplines will take place at the same time in one venue and the Gran Fondo World Championships are part of it.
The Gran Fondo and Medio Fondo will take place on Friday 4th August 2023 and the Time Trial on Monday 7th August.

Itinerary
Day To Day
Hotel: The Royal George Hotel
Meals: Dinner at the hotel
Daily Highlights:
- Transfer from airport to the hotel, bike transfer is additonal cost of $75 AUD per bike box return
- Evening meet and greet
Today’s Ride: Bike fitting and a short ride to test bikes
Arrive at Glasgow or Edinburough airport, transfer to Perth, our onsite mechanic will be able to assist you with bike assembly. This evening we will have a meet and greet in the hotel
What about my bike?
You can bring your own bike as we have arranged to transport bike boxes with airport transfers. Alternatively, you can rent a bike with us for the weekend. Our mechanic will be available this afternoon at the hotel to assist you with fitting your rental bike or building your own bike after travel. Bikes can be safely stored at the hotel.

Today’s Ride: Take the opportunity to settle in and warm up the legs. Our ride staff will host a short spin around the area so you can test your bike and roll out some jetlag.
This afternoon you will have the chance to explore Perth.

- Escorted visit to the expo for race check in
- Pre Race dinner at the hotel
Today’s Ride: Race route recon ride. Ride the final stage of the Gran Fondo route. Route and Distance to be confirmed.
After breakfast our ride staff will host a race route recon ride, this afternoon we will escort riders to the village for race check-in. This evening we have a team Aus pre-race dinner including a brief on tomorrow’s race.

Today’s Ride: Gran Fondo Race
After a decent breakfast head down to the start area. Our hotels are all located within cycling distance of the start and the finish. Our chef de mission is at the race village all day to help if you have any issues.

- 10.00 – 16.30 Gran Fondo
- 10.30 – Medio Fondo races
- 11.45 – Start of the public 100m mile Sportive
- 14.15 – Start of the short distance Sportive
- 17.00 – 2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships Podium ceremonies
After breakfast your transfer will take you to your departure airport in Edinburough or Glasgow.
