Cyprus Gran Fondo

The Cyprus Gran Fondo has been going for 10 years and is a unique event in the sportive calendar. Used by many as an early opportunity to qualify for the UCI Granfondo World Championships on rolling terrain, the event is spread over three days. The first day has a time trial for UCI qualifiers or a sportive. Day two & three are different sportives, both short at 96km & 54km but over challenging terrain.
We have four & seven night breaks available staying in Paphos. Each include guided warm up rides, mechanical support, private feed stations & pre race briefings.

Routes & FAQs

The Routes

There are two options on day one (27th March) - a time trial & a sportive. The other two days are sportives, both relatively short. The queen stage is day two - 96km, 1600m of climbing with almost a 40km climb. On Sunday (29th March) the last stage is short at 54km but with plenty of climbing. Three interesting and different race days...

Choose the Route

Ride Distance: 28.6

Elevation gain: 357

A 28km time trial route all uphill for 14km and all downhill for the last half in an out and back course.

Ride Distance: 96

Elevation gain: 1600

As the queen stage of the Cyprus Gran Fondo 2019, stage 2 takes you in places that you wouldn't go on a everyday ride! Unspoilt nature, isolated or ruined villages, vineyards, rough terrain, cobbles and of course long uphill sections! But as you know the scenery from above is wonderful, especially in this amazing route and Cyprus nature during spring. The highlight of the stage is the metal and wood bridge in Trozena village, a great structure if you considered the time when it was build!

Ride Distance: 54

Elevation gain: 1435

One final chance to qualify for the UCI worlds on a short and punchy course starting in Paphos and finishing in the hills at Tsada. After a neutral 15km section, there are three main climbs packed into 40km of hard racing.

What to Pack

The routes are relatively short but with some punchy climbs. The weather in Paphos at the end of March is around 20 degrees and sunny but could be cooler in the hills so bring layers for all conditions.

UCI QUalification

Each stage is independent of each other so qualifying in the top 25% in your age category of any stage books you a place at the World Champs.
