Italy is known for its stunning landscapes, world famous cuisine and cycling roads that host a Grand Tour and two monuments of their own. The Giro d’Italia, Milan San Remo and Il Lombardia are some of the biggest races in the calendar. Its no wonder the tour has decided to start in Italy!
The peloton will leave Florence, taking a route which leads to the coastal city of Rimini, situated on the Adriatic coast. Stage 2 leaves Cesenatico, heading back across the country to Bologna, where the peloton will do laps of a city centre circuit. From Bologna, the Tour will head to Turin, where the Alps appear in the northwest of the city.

More about the event
The Grand Depart of the 111th edition of the world-famous Tour de France is set to make history, as for the first time the race will start on Italian roads! Florence will be hosting the team presentation and the first stage, which will leave the centre of Florence and head to the coastal town of Rimini. The first stage consists of 205km and a whopping 3700m of climbing! This really will make one exciting start to the Tour.
Vincenzo Nibali, recently retired in 2022 after a spectacular career was the last Italian to win the Tour de France back in 2014. Whilst the race cannot be won in Italy, it can certainly be lost here; an epic start in the battle for Yellow.
