The dates of the 3-week French Grand Tour are Saturday 4 July until Sunday 26 July 2026. The 3 first stages have already been announced. The opening stages are commonly known as the ‘Grand Depart’ or Big Start. The 2026 Grand Depart will take place in Barcelona across 3 days on Saturday 4 July until Monday 6 July 2026 with two full stages on Spanish soil and one stage with start in Spain and finish in France or possibly Andorra.
Our Tour dates are Thursday 2 July until Tuesday 7 July 2026. Witness the Team Presentation, see Stage 1 in Barcelona, the finish of Stage 2 and Join Team Visma | Lease a Bike as a VIP on Stage 3. We are staying in Barcelona at a well-located hotel for stage access. Our local team of hosts, mechanics and drivers are based in Spain. You will also find them when you travel with Sportive Breaks to take part or spectate at the Tour of Spain. Our team of local ride leaders will explore the local roads with you.
Thursday 2 July: Presentation of the 2026 teams
Saturday 4 July: 1st stage – Barcelona > Barcelona – 19.7km (team time trial)
Sunday 5 July: 2nd stage – Tarragona > Barcelona – 178km (hilly stage)
Monday 6 July: 3rd stage – Granollers > Les Angles – 196km (mountain stage)
On this tour you have the option to join us by arriving at Barcelona Airport. Bike rental is also available.

Day One - Team Presentation

The Sportive Breaks team will meet you at our hotel in Barcelona today at 14:00PM
If you are flying into Barcelona Airport, we offer airport transfers today at 12:00PM, please book your flights in line with our transfer times if you wish to use this inclusion.
On arrival at our hotel, we will fit you with your rental bike from 15:00PM and our team are also available to help you with unpacking and building your own bike after travel.
This afternoon we will transport you the short distance from our hotel enjoy the 2026 teams’ presentation, the team presentation will take place along the Avinguda de Gaudí, from the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site to the Sagrada Família. This is a 25 minute walk from our hotel if you wish to walk down or a 10 minute drive if you require transport.
This evening, you’re free to explore the vibrant city of Barcelona at your own pace. Dinner is not included at the hotel tonight, giving you the perfect opportunity to discover the city’s exceptional culinary scene and dine at one of its many fantastic restaurants.

Day Two - Guided Ride or Walking Tour

As anticipation builds for Stage 1, the local area will be buzzing with cycling fans from around the world. To ease into the tour, we’ll take you just outside the city on a guided ride led by a professional guide, departing directly from the hotel. Expect a scenic yet challenging route to kick off your adventure.
For spectators, we’re offering a guided walking tour of Barcelona today, showcasing the city’s rich culture and iconic sights. Cyclists who prefer to rest their legs are more than welcome to join the city tour instead.
Your evening is free to enjoy a meal out in Barcelona.

Day Three - Team Time Trial

This morning, we’ll set off on a guided ride before watching the pros battle it out in the team time trial. For non-riders, there’s the chance to soak up the pre-race atmosphere and watch the build-up unfold in the early hours ahead of the official start.
After the team time trial, you are free to explore Barcelona.
Tonight we will have a group meal at the hotel together.

Day Four - Guided Ride on Stage 2

Location
The stage starts in Tarragona today which is located about 100km down the coast. When the riders get to Barcelona they will tackle a local circuit allowing us excellent viewing. The Montjuic climb will be conquered 3 times by the peloton. The finish is the same as the previous day.
We will head out on to the course before the pro’s reach our location and take you on a guided ride, you will get the chance to ride through the finish of today’s stage and then specatate the end of today’s stage.
Tonight you are free to eat out in Barcelona.

Day Five - Stage 3 with Visma | Lease a Bike

You will spend the day as a guest of the team in an official TVL minibus.
On our way to the stage start we will visit the hotel where the team are staying. Here one of the team directors will give you the inside track on the team’s race tactics for the day. After this we make our way to the start location where we will visit the team bus and meet the riders as they prepare for the day ahead. There may be time to visit the team bus paddock to check out the competition, before setting off for the day.
You will spend the day with us in an official black and yellow TVL minibus equipped with food, drinks and interior TV screens so we can watch the stage live during the day*. You will drive on the course of the stage on closed roads and be a proper part of the support team. You will experience the race at various locations, and you may even be lucky enough to watch your host handing out bottles or spare wheels.
During the day we will also stop for a lunch break.
After today’s experience, you will be transferred back to our hotel in Barcelona, where we will have a final group meal. If you wish to eat out on your final evening in Barcelona, you are more than welcome to.

We offer a return transfer to Barcelona Airport today at 10:00AM, please book your flights in time with our transfers; we expect to reach Barcelona airport at 11:00AM, so please allow at least 3 hours.

The Grand Depart of the 113th edition of the world-famous cycling race is taking place in Barcelona. Barcelona will host the team presentation and the first 3 stages. The first three stages all take place in Spain before the race moves into Andorra or France on stage 3.
