2027 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships, Haute-Savoie
Sportive Breaks are the Gran Fondo experts so we will be providing hotel and support packages for riders from all nationalities for the 2027 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships. The event will be held in Thônes – La Clusaz (Aravis Massif), Haute-Savoie, France, as part of the 2027 UCI Cycling World Championships. The official Haute-Savoie 2027 programme and local organising information list Sunday 22 August as the date of the time trial and two days later on Tuesday 24 August 2027 as the Gran Fondo competition dates. Competitors will attend according to the event(s) for which they have qualified.

Please make your way to our hotel today or make use of our optional airport transfer from Geneva Airport where our team will meet you. The transfer takes 1 hour from Geneva.
What about my bike?
We will transport bike boxes securely on our airport transfers. Our mechanic will be available this afternoon at the hotel to assist you with building your bike after travel. Bikes can be safely stored at the hotel.

Your stay will be on a bed and breakfast basis (half board available at selected hotels). You will have an early breakfast on race day if required.
After breakfast we offer a short ride in the area to keep the legs spinning.
You will need to register for the Time Trial and that can be done today between 09:30 and 17:30 at (location TBC). A briefing will be held at 14:00 lasting an hour.
There will be a pre-race dinner available this evening (location TBC).

Based on exact locations there may be transport required this morning to get you to the start-line. Our team will be on hand this morning if you have any last-minute mechanical issues.
Podium times will be announced soon.
Transport will be available back from the finish to the hotels.
Celebration meal at the hotel plus assistance with bike packing for those who will be travelling tomorrow.
After breakfast, please check out of the hotel. Group transfers will be available back to Geneva airport.

The Gran Fondo (115 km | 3,256 m D+) will tackle four climbs, including the Plateau de Glières, Col des Fleuries, Brizon and Col de la Colombière, before the final kilometres to La Clusaz.

More About the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships
Sportive Breaks is one of the most experienced tour operators supporting riders at the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships. We were the Official Travel Partner for the 2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Perth, Scotland, and have since provided travel and support packages for riders attending the 2024 edition in Aalborg, the 2025 edition in Lorne, and the 2026 edition in Niseko.
Launched in 2011, the UCI Gran Fondo World Series (formerly known as the UCI World Cycling Tour) is a series of UCI-sanctioned road races held all over the world. Throughout the 2026-2027 season, a series of events will qualify the top 25% in each age group for the 2027 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships. The age group winners of the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships are awarded the UCI rainbow jersey. The qualifier events are open to riders of all levels – those who aim to make the podium and others who wish to cross the finish line in the best possible time. For more information, click here.
Who can take part in the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships?
Each UCI Gran Fondo World Series event of the 2026-2027 seasons grants qualification rights for the 2027 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships (to view the events calendar, click here). Based on the results of each race, the first 25% of athletes in each age group will be qualified for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships. The 25% is calculated based on the number of starters in each age group, and not on the number of riders having finished the race. In addition, the first three riders of each official age category will qualify directly for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships, independently of the number of starters in that age group. Jersey is obligatory
It is mandatory for a rider to wear their national kit at the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships Time Trial, Team Relay and Road Race. Although the official national jersey is not required, a jersey representing their country with a similar design and colours as the original national team jersey is required. Private or club sponsors are allowed to be featured on the national jersey.
