2025 Grand Depart in Lille and Northern France with Sportive Breaks

Witness the Team Presentation, see Stage 1 in Lille, the finish of Stage 2 in Boulogne sur Mer and the start of Stage 3 in Valenciennes. There are no cobbles included on the stages of the Grand Depart but with Sportive Breaks you will not only ride the roads of the Grand Depart, but you will also discover some of the iconic cobbles of the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix!

Sportive Breaks are at home in this part of northern France. Also called French Flanders, the area around Roubaix is just as crazy about cycling as the Flandriens just across the border in Belgium. We are staying in Kortrijk, which is just 20 miles from Lille. Our local team of hosts, mechanics and drivers are Flanders based, and they regularly host our tours to the Spring Classics.

Our team of local ride leaders will help you explore the bergs of the Tour of Flanders and the cobbles of Paris-Roubaix. We will take you to visit the Tour of Flanders Museum and the Roubaix Velodrome, as well as guiding you on the Arenberg, Carrefour de L’Arbre, Oude Kwaremont, Koppenberg and many more!

On this tour you have the option to join us by arriving at Brussels airport. Bike rental is also available.

Highlights from the Past Event

Itinerary

Arrival in Belgium

If you fly into Brussels (BRU) Airport before 11AM this morning, we provide a shuttle to our hotel in Kortrijk. Collection from Lille Eurostar is available on request. Alternatively, please make your own way to Kortrijk.

Your Bike

If you have travelled with your own bike, our mechanics will be at the hotel this afternoon if you require any assistance building your bike. If you have rented a bike from us, it will be available this afternoon. We will have a short ride to test our bikes and stretch our legs.

Team Presentation

We will drive you the short distance from Kortrijk to Lille to watch the 2025 Team Presentation. Following the presentation, we will return to our hotel for our evening meal.

Guided Ride

Any trip to this region of Northern Europe isn’t complete without experiencing Tour of Flanders history! We will ride some of the famous cobbled climbs of the Tour of Flanders, including the Oude Kwaremont and the Koppenberg, finishing our ride at the Tour of Flanders Museum.

Non-Riding Option

Any non-riders can either enjoy additional time in the Tour of Flanders Museum, or explore Oudenaarde’s old market square.

Brewery Visit

This afternoon we will visit a Belgian brewery and enjoy some local beers, before returning to our hotel for an evening meal together.

After breakfast we will ride on the official race route of stage 1 before finishing in Lille. In Lille we will enjoy the atmosphere as it builds up before the stage finish.

Non-riders will have time to explore the historical center of Lille or watch the race unfold on TV.

We are likely to see a sprinter in the Yellow Jersey after Stage 1 which starts and finishes in Lille. There are a few categorized climbs to allow the breakaway to battle for the Polka Dot Jersey, but this stage looks like it was designed for a bunch sprint.

Following the stage, we will drive back to our hotel in Kortrijk for our evening meal.

The Tour de France starts in Lauwin-Planque close to Valenciennes today, and it finishes in Boulogne Sur Mer on the coast. From the hotel in Kortrijk, we will transfer you and the bikes to the starting point of our ride today. We will ride through the Côte d’Opale to our destination of Boulogne Sur Mer. The Côte d’Opale is a 75 mile stretch of French coast with a varied landscape including beaches, dunes, swamps, estuaries and cliffs.

After watching the conclusion of today’s stage, we will transfer you back to Kortrijk for our evening meal.

After breakfast, it is your turn to enjoy the cobbles of Roubaix. We will transfer you from Kortrijk to Valenciennes where we watch the riders set off for the stage today which will take them from Valenciennes to Dunkirk.

We will then transport you to the starting point of our ride, which will include around 30 miles of the iconic Roubaix roads and cobbles. You will ride the most famous stretches such as the Carrefour de L’Arbre and the Trouee d’Arenberg. After visiting the famous Roubaix Velodrome including the showers, the team will transfer you back to the hotel in Kortrijk for our final evening meal together.

Today we bid you Au Revoir as our tour ends.

After breakfast we will offer transfers to Brussels (BRU) Airport and Lille Eurostar.
