OHN is like a mini-Tour of Flanders. The race includes the famous Muur van Geraardsbergen and Bosberg in its finale which used to be stalwarts in the Tour of Flanders. Omloop Nieuwsblad for the professional men and women takes place on Saturday 28 February and on Sunday 1 March the Omloop Nieuwsblad Cyclo takes place.
The race starts from a Sportive Breaks favourite location, ‘t Kuipke velodrome in Gent where we go every November to watch the track racing at the Gent Six Day Track Cycling. The finish is in the town of Ninove after taking in 11 climbs and 8 sections of cobblestone ‘bergs’.

For the cyclists we offer the OHN Cyclo-Sportive. For the spectators we offer a full day’s Start to Finish Experience on Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne (KBK).

Sportive Weekend itinerary – OHN Cyclo

Taking place on the Sunday after the pro race, the Omloop het Nieuwsblad Cyclo allows riders to choose between 4 distances: 60, 80 or 125 kilometres. All distances include the combination of the Muur van Geraardsbergen and the Bosberg. All distances start and finish in Ninove located at 30 minutes from Oudenaarde. There is also a 150km distance which starts and finishes in Ghent, but this does not add much to the 125km distance in terms of challenge or climbs.

Spectator Weekend Itinerary – Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne

Early breakfast at the hotel.

  • You will be collected from the hotel and transported to Kortrijk (30 mins)
  • Enjoy the build up to the start in Kortrijk

KBK is a one-day race that’s part of the opening weekend. The race starts in Kortrijk and finishes in Kuurne but doesn’t go anywhere near Brussels. The race has been a great hunting ground for Team Visma | Lease a Bike in recent years with Wout van Aert winning in 2024. The hills on the route change every year, but some of the regular climbs include Edelareberg, La Houppe, Kanarieberg, Kruisberg, Oude Kwaremont, Tiegemberg and Nokereberg. The race has a long and flat final section to the finish which makes it suitable for sprinters. The race ends with two local laps around Kortrijk and Kuurne.

After breakfast, please check out of the hotel and depart.

If you wish to make use of our airport transfer service then we will run one scheduled airport transfer back to Brussels Zaventem Airport at 09.00am this morning.
