More About the Haute Route Alps

The Haute Route Alps

The Haute Route is a premier multi-day cycling event that challenges amateur riders to take on mountainous stages inspired by professional races. Known for its difficulty and stunning locations, Haute Route offers events across iconic cycling regions like the Alps, Pyrenees & Dolomites as well as single-day and three-day events in locations like Alpe d’Huez and Ventoux.

The multi-day Haute Route events like this year’s Alps edition typically span 5–7 days and cover around 800 km (500 miles), including demanding climbs that gain thousands of meters in elevation, sometimes at high altitude. Riders experience fully supported stages, with pro-level race logistics, timed climbs, mechanical assistance, and race marshals – this creates the most authentic and high-quality experience that mirrors professional stage racing. Riders stay in local accommodations and can utilize support services like luggage transfers and daily massages, which make Haute Route events unique among amateur cycling challenges.

These events attract keen cyclists from around the world in the ultimate test of endurance; to be successful in the Haute Route Alps it takes the perfect blend of skill, hard work and most importantly mental resilience. Taking on this event will give you the chance to ride most legendary roads within cycling. Many view the Haute Route as a bucket-list event for amateur cyclists, providing both an intense personal challenge and a one in a lifetime experience on famous climbs and scenic routes.
