2025 Haute Route Alps with Sportive Breaks

Haute Route Alps 2025 is a tough but rewarding 7-day Sportive, giving you a taste of the life of a professional cyclist in a stage race. The route takes in some of the toughest and most iconic climbs in the Alps and consists of 6 multi-mountain stages and an uphill time trial. Support at the Haute Route Alps is unparalleled and by purchasing entry you get access to a lot of services. What’s more, you get the unique opportunity to truly live and compete like a pro cyclist for a week.

One of the toughest weeks in amateur cycling, the Haute Route Alps 2025 is the flagship event of the Haute Route Cycling Series. This is a week of cycling bucket list climbs made famous by the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia. A lot of it is spent at altitude with several Cols over 2,000 metres above sea level.

2025 Haute Route Alps dates

The 2025 Haute Route Alps will take place between Sunday 24 and Saturday 30 August 2025 (dates to be confirmed). Our 8-night package will start on Saturday 23 August and finish on Sunday 31 August.

The 2025 Haute Route Alps route

The 2025 Haute Route Alps is still to be confirmed. Listed above is the route it took in 2024 to give you an idea of what to expect – this year it started in Megeve and finished in Nice. The route will cover 714km and 19,405m of elevation over the 7 days. You will take on some of the world famous cycling climbs such as the mighty Alpe d’Huez, Col de la Loze, Col de la Bonette and Col du Glandon to name a few. Stage 4 will be the time trial from Bourg d’Oisans to Alpe d’Huez. 

Saturday 24 August; Village – Megève

Sunday 25 August; Stage 1 – Megève – Megève

  • Distance: 99.5km
  • Ascent: 2,582m
  • Descent: 2,180m

Cols: Col des Aravis (1,486m), Col de la Colombière (1,630m), Courchevel Altiport (1,490m)

Monday 26 August; Stage 2 – Megève – Col de la Loze

  • Distance: 114.5km
  • Ascent: 3,200m
  • Descent: 1,990m

Cols: Col des Saisies (1,630m), Col de la Loze (2,275m)

Tuesday 27 August; Stage 3 – Courchevel – L’Alpe d’Huez

  • Distance: 137km
  • Ascent: 4,450m
  • Descent: 2,320m

Cols: Col de la Madeleine (1,630m), Col du Glandon (1,924m), L’ Alpe d’Huez (1,815m)

Wednesday 28 August; Stage 4 – Bourg d’Oisans – Alpe d’Huez

Day To Day (2024 itinerary)

Travel to Megeve

Please make your own arrangements to arrive at our hotel in Megeve today. Our team will be available to meet you at the hotel. If you plan to fly then we offer an airport transfer for you, your luggage and your bike from Geneva Airport at 12:00pm.

Our hotel

Your stay will be for 1 night on a bed and breakfast basis, with breakfasts included. You will have an early breakfast on the day of stage 1. You can keep your bike in your room with you.

What about my bike?

You can bring your own bike as we have made arrangements to transport bike boxes on our airport transfers. Our mechanic will be available this afternoon at the hotel to assist you with building your bike after travel.

This afternoon and early evening, our tour leaders and bike mechanics are available for you. The evening is free for you to eat in one of Megeve’s many restaurants.

Typical day on the Haute Route

  • 05:30am – Wake up and breakfast
  • 06:30am – Drop off your bags with our team
  • 07:00am – Ride to the start line
  • 07:30am – Start of the stage
  • 12:30pm – First riders finish
  • Hotel check-in, collect bags, post-stage snacks and drinks, massage, bike check, relax
  • 16:30pm – Finish last riders
  • 18:30pm – Race briefing
  • 20:00pm – Evening meal (optional, at own expense) and team briefing

Climbs: Col de la Madeleine, Col du Glandon and finishing at the top of Alpe d’Huez.

After the finish, our team will guide you to your hotel, where your bags will be ready in reception. There’s time to book a massage, get your bike checked by our mechanic and relax. After the Haute Route Alps race briefing, the evening is free to relax.

86km and 2,800m of elevation. 

Climbs: Col du Lautaret and Col du Granon

We have an early breakfast at the hotel today. We ask you to have your bags ready in reception and our team will collect these for you, to be delivered to your hotel.
After the finish, our team will guide you to your hotel, where your bags will be ready in reception. There’s time to book a massage, get your bike checked by our mechanic and relax. After the Haute Route Alps race briefing, we’ll have the evening meal together at the hotel.

Today’s stage – 

139km and 3,650m of elevation. 

Climbs: Col de Vars, Col de la Bonnette and Auron.

We have a slightly later breakfast at the hotel today. There is no need to have your bags ready in reception as we’ll be staying another night in this hotel.
After the finish, ride back to the hotel, where you will have time to book a massage, get your bike checked by our mechanic and relax. There will be no evening meal tonight as there is a Haute Route Alps closing ceremony.
This evening you can collect your bike box and our mechanic is available to assist you with re-packing your bike into the box so you’re ready for travel tomorrow.

122km and 1,600m of elevation. 

Climbs: Col St-Martin

After breakfast we offer our optional transfer back to Nice Airport. We advise you not to book any flights before 10:00am as we anticipate an early start. Our airport transfer will leave Nice at 09:30am in time for flights that depart Nice after 12:00pm.
