Alpe d'Huez

Cycle Alpe d'Huez with Sportive Breaks

First included in the big lap of France in 1952, and a regular stage finish since 1976; the famous 21 bends quickly surpassed the higher, longer and more visually appealing mythical climbs like the Galibier, Tourmalet and Col d’Izoard because of the drama that would transpire in the racing. Time and again it would shape the outcome of the whole three weeks and because of this the crowds started to arrive.

The drama, the gradient and now the immense crowds, turned this climb into a rock concert. It attracts many who aren’t even fans of the sport, because Alpe d’Huez day is a spectacle, that needs to be seen.

It also needs to be ridden so luckily for us, this climb is available to ride from Late Spring, through Summer and most of Autumn. Climb the bends for yourself and you can emulate the past successes of Coppi, Hinault, Pantani, Thomas, Pidcock or NiewiaDoma.

If you’d like to fully appreciate what it’s like for the pro’s to climb this at the end of a stage, La Marmotte is the way to do it. If you’d rather enjoy it instead of suffer through it, join us on our cycling tour.
