With three types of accommodation – a hotel, an aparthotel and villas – world-class sports facilities, and year-round perfect weather conditions, Playitas Resort provides a wonderful location in which to enjoy an active holiday. There is a dedicated cycle centre with a 250-strong fleet of bikes as well as mechanic service, guided bike tours and maps with local routes. The gym alone offers 700sqm of cardio and strength machines and a free weight area. If you’re looking for somewhere to train for a triathlon, there’s an 8-lane, 50m Olympic pool or the option to swim in the sea – the resort sits on its own bay. There are also marked running tracks up to 23km long as well as plenty of other sports to try out during your stay.
Rest, relaxation and nutrition are an important part of training so there are leisure pools, pilates and yoga classes, meditation and a choice of a la carte and buffet restaurants. Fresh fruit and vegetables are grown in the property’s own Eco Gardens as well as honey from their own beehives. Buffet meals include healthy options, with carefully selected proteins and carbohydrates.
The hotel’s comfortable and functional rooms, with garden or sea views, offer a terrace or balcony, ensuite bathroom with shower, air-conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi, flat screen satellite TV, kettle and minibar (on request). Spacious suites with a private terrace and heated pool are also an option if you prefer more privacy.
Climbs of Fuerteventura: Amazing views await at the top of Mirador Astronomico de Sicasumbre, the Mirador de las Penitas and the Mirador de Morro Velosa in the Parque Rural de Betancuria.
Ride the smooth asphalt roads of Fuerteventura: Enjoy circular rides direct from the resort to places like Tuineje, Antigua, Caleta de Fustre and La Lajita.
Exploring the island: With the flexibility to take rest days and explore the island, why not visit the Ajuy Caves, the Corralejo Natural Park, the volcanic Calderon Hondo or the volcanic pools at Aguas Verdes.

It’s entirely up to you how you plan your training and cycling schedule during your stay. There are plenty of options that set off directly from the hotel, so you can choose your route for each day and also when you wish to rest and relax. Below are a few examples of route options:

- Circular route to Mirador Astronomico de Sicasumbre – 95km / +1,295m
- Circular route to Betancuria and the Miradors of Las Penitas and Morro Velosa – 108km / +1,610m
- Circular route to Antigua and Caleta de Fuste – 84km / +625m
- Circular route to La Pared and La Lajita – 84km / +915m
As well as cycling the local area, there are plenty of other sports to try out at Playitas Resort, including padel, tennis, badminton, golf, beach volleyball, table tennis and a huge number of daily classes and activities (some of which are payable locally). Nearby facilities (also payable locally) include water sports, climbing wall, spinning and any lessons.
