The 2027 Giro d'Italia Route Overview

The 2027 Giro d’Italia route is still to be announced, with the official reveal expected in November. Early rumours have already suggested a possible long-distance Grand Partenza, including talk of a start in Australia! Though nothing has been confirmed and, for now, it remains speculative.

Wherever it begins, the race should fall into a familiar rhythm once it reaches Italy, typically moving from sprint and transitional stages into more selective terrain. The general classification usually starts to take shape early on, before building towards the high mountains.

As ever, the Giro is likely to be decided in the final ten days, with demanding Alpine and Dolomite stages rewarding consistency and resilience as much as outright climbing ability. Time trials will also play a role, depending on how the organisers balance the route.

The race will build towards a decisive final week before the traditional finish in Rome, where the overall standings are settled and the sprinters take their final opportunity on stage 21.
