Belgium is one of the best-known cycling destinations in Europe or even the world! You can explore Belgium under your own steam and whenever you like. Self-guided road cycling provides a freedom to explore without having to get up and ready to join a group ride with people of different abilities. It allows you to head out at whatever time you like on a ride that suits you for distance, elevation and to take in the parts of Belgium you want to visit on any particular day. We’ll provide you with a GPS navigation app with a selection of routes to ride during your stay; whether it’s cycling across Belgium’s iconic farm roads or something more challenging like the Flemish climbs. You may even spot the pros out and about while you’re cycling, dependant on the time of year you go!
How many nights you stay is also up to you – we have a selection of hotels and durations from 3 nights, but if you want to stay for a longer period of time just book more nights. Half Board, private airport transfers and bike rental (or e-bikes) can also be included in your package.
Itinerary
Day To Day
On arrival, your private transfer (if you’ve included this in your booking) will be waiting for you to drive you to your chosen hotel – approximately 70 minutes away. If you’re planning to bring your own bike, this will need to be added to your transfer booking and will be transported with you. Up to 4 places can be booked online. Transfers for larger groups can be quoted on request.
Depending on your arrival and departure times, you may be able to squeeze in some extra cycling time on your arrival and departure days – please ensure you have included enough bike rental time for this if you’re renting a bike to be picked up in Belgium.
It’s entirely up to you how you plan your cycling schedule during your stay. There are plenty of routes that set off from your hotel, so you can choose your route for each day and also when you wish to rest and relax. Below are a few examples of route options:
- Kortrijk to Oudenaarde via Koppenberg – 95km & 600m+ Elevation
- Tour of Flanders (Medium Course) – 125km & 1700m+ Elevation
- Tour of Flanders (Short Course) – 80km & 900m+ Elevation
- Tour of Flanders (Long Course) 171km & 2100m+ Elevation
- Oudenaarde to Oudenaarde via Koppenberg, Taaienberg, Oude Kwaremont & Paterberg – 76km & 900m+ Elevation
- Short Oudenaarde Ride – 47km & 500m+ Elevation
- Long Kotrijk Return – 132km & 900m+ Elevation
After breakfast your transfer to Brussels takes approximately 70 to 80 minutes.

The location of the hotel is just 2 miles/ 3km away from the location of the We Ride Flanders expo and start and finish. On Tour of Flanders day you can walk to see all the action. The women’s pro race starts and finishes in Oudenaarde and the men’s race finishes there. The Leopold Hotel offers a restaurant, bar, terrace, underground paid parking and free public outside parking just opposite the hotel. And they have a safe underground parking for your precious bicycle as well!
