The 2026 Giro d’Italia Women Route

The 2026 Giro d’Italia Women route was announced in Rome on Monday 1 December. The race will be held on new dates from Saturday 30 May until Sunday 7 June 2026. This means that there is a slight overlap with the finish of the men’s race which finishes in Rome on Sunday 31 May 2026. The race was previously held during the men’s Tour de France. The 9-day stage race will start in Cesenatico, Marco Pantani’s birthplace, and end in Saluzzo in Piemonte 9 days later. The final two stages around Turin and Piedmont promise a spectacular final. The Queen stage on Saturday includes the Colle dell Finestre and its gravel summit whilst the final stage starts and finishes in Saluzzo near Turin.

Saturday 30 May 2026 – Stage 1 – Cesenatico to Ravenna

The first stage starts in Cesenatico, the birthplace of Marco Pantani and the venue for one of Italian’s biggest Gran Fondo events, the Nove Colli. The stage is pan flat and will surely be one for the sprinters.

Start – 100km from Bologna
Finish – 80km from Bologna

Sunday 31 May 2026 – Stage 2 – Roncade H-Farm to Caorle

There is a Cat 4 climb on today’s stage but it’s another day for the sprinters. We may see the same person in the Pink Jersey for the first two days of the 2026 Giro d’Italia Women.

Start – 25km from Venice
Finish – 75km from Venice

Monday 1 June 2026 – Stage 3 – Bibione to Buja

A tougher stage is on the programme today with two categorised climbs and an undulating finish before the finish in Buja.

Start – 100km from Venice
Finish – 150km from Venice

Tuesday 2 June 2026 – Stage 4 – Belluno – Nevegal Tudor ITT

Stage 4 features a 12.7km uphill time trial on a category 1 climb. We could have a race leader by now who has won the first 3 stages, but this stage will see the GC riders come to the fore.

Start – 100km from Venice
Finish – 100km from Venice

Wednesday 3 June 2026 – Stage 5 – Longarone to Santo Stefano di Cadore

We hit the Dolomites today. The Passo Tre Croci features in the first half of the stage but the real action comes in the final 50 kilometres with 3 categorised climbs and a fast descent into Santo Stefano di Cadore.

Start – 100km from Venice
Finish – 155km from Venice

Thursday 4 June 2026 – Stage 6 – Ala to Brescello

This transition stage should be the last opportunity for the sprint teams to launch their protagonist for a final win of the campaign.

Start – 60km from Verona
Finish – 20km from Parma

Friday 5 June 2026 – Stage 7 – Sorbolo Mezzani to Salice Terme

Stage 7 is the longest of the race. The 165km route takes the riders from Sorbolo Mezzani to Salice Terme. The only difficulties come toward the end of the race before a long and fast descent to the finish. It could be a good day for a breakaway.

Start – 12km from Parma/ 135km from Milan
Finish – 80km South of Milan

Saturday 6 June 2026 – Stage 7 – Rivoli – Sestriere

Today’s stage is the Queen stage of the 2026 Giro d’Italia Women. The big star of the day is the Colle dell Finestre made famous by Chris Froome’s breakaway and more recently Simon Yates’s Giro winning effort. The climb is 20 kilometres long and features 8 kilometres of gravel at the top. Once over the Finestre the climb to Sestriere remains to finish off the day.

Start – Rivoli is located 18km from Turin
Finish – Sestriere is located 100km from Turin

Sunday 7 June 2026 – Stage 8 – Saluzzo – Saluzzo

The final stage of the race starts and finishes in Saluzzo. This is a tough 143km stage with three categorised climbs on the route. The final battle may still be close so the race could remain undecided until today.

Start/ Finish: Saluzzo is 60km from Turin
