Milan Sanremo is the longest professional bike race in the world covering nearly 300km . It starts near Milan and finishes in the town of Sanremo. While race is famous for its length, the action comes within the last 30km with 2 climbs; the Cipressa and the Poggio. The race tests who has the most energy reserves left and who has the most descending nerve in order to take the win. Last year the Milan Sanremo winner was Jasper Philipsen. Because of its difficulty it has earned its place as one of the 5 cycling monuments which also include; Tour of Flanders, Paris Roubaix, Liege-Bastogne-Liege and Il Lombardia.

Travel to the hotel
Please make your own arrangements to arrive at the hotel today, where our friendly team will be available to greet you upon arrival.
Airport Transfer
If you plan to fly then we offer airport transfers for you and your luggage, from Milan Malpensa Airport or Milan Linate Airport. Please note that we are transferring to Nice after the race, it is recommended to get a flight back from Nice Airport. Airport transfers are available at extra cost and are on request by contacting our team via hello@sportivebreaks.com
Our hotel
We are staying at a conveniently located hotel that is close to the start of tomorrow’s race. Your stay will be for 1 night and this will be on a half-board basis with breakfast and evening meal included. After the race you will be travelling to Nice to spend the night there.
This afternoon and early evening, your Team Visma | Lease a Bike host is available for you at the hotel. During the evening meal we will provide a briefing on the exciting experience ahead, as well as offering you the opportunity to meet and greet the riders and support team. Your host will run you through what to expect from the race day tomorrow.
After breakfast at the hotel we will gather and check out of the hotel, then your Milan Sanremo day starts. You will spend the day as a guest of the team in an official TVL minibus equipped with route map and interior TV screens so we can watch the race live during the day.
On our way to the stage start we will visit the hotel where the team are staying. Here one of the team directors will give you the inside track on the team’s race tactics for the day. After this we make our way to the start location where we will visit the team bus and meet the riders as they prepare for the day ahead. There may even be time for a stroopwafel and a coffee. We will then visit the Start Village and the team paddock before setting off for the day.
You will spend the day with us in an official black and yellow TVL minibus equipped with food, drinks and interior TV screens so we can watch the stage live during the day*. You will drive on the course of the stage on closed roads and be a proper part of the support team. You will experience the race at various locations.
During the day we will be handing out wheels and water bottles during the race. We will also stop for a lunch break.
We head to the finish area to catch the finale of the race**. Hopefully we can join in with the team celebrations. After the race comes to a close we will travel to Nice and check in to our hotel.

Team Visma | Lease a Bike ‘in the Heart of the Race’ VIP experiences
Ahead of Race Day we will communicate the day’s itinerary and the start and finish locations.
The day begins with our Team Visma | Lease a Bike host who will meet you to begin your race day experience. You host will be an ex-pro rider who will offer professional insights into the race. The first stop is a visit to the team hotel where one of the team Directors will share the team’s race strategy with you for the day.
After visiting the team hotel, we set off for the start area where you will visit the Team Bus to see how a World Tour Cycling Team prepare for a race day. From there you visit the start village for the team presentations and rider sign on. Now it’s time for the race to get underway.
You will be in an official Team Visma | Lease a Bike vehicle with full race accreditation for access to the race course. The vehicle is equipped with a map of the official race route and live TV coverage. During the day you will stop at multiple points on the roadside and have a chance to hand out bottles to the riders as they come past. During the day we will stop for lunch along with having snacks and drinks available throughout the day.
We aim to arrive at the finish in time to see it live but we can’t guarantee this as it depends on how the race plays out on the day. Once the race and podium ceremonies are over the full race day experience with Team Visma | Lease a Bike draws to a close. Your host will take you to the end point.
