2025 Liege Bastogne Liege with Sportive Breaks​

Sportive Breaks are here to support you taking on the hardest sportive of the Spring Classics. The full route of Liege Bastogne Liege is a full 258km and a massive 4,400 metres of climbing – more than Stelvio Santini or the Etape du Tour! Also known as La Doyenne des Classiques, the old lady of classics features famous cycling climbs such as La Redoute and is one epic ride steeped in history. Let us take care of your trip so you can focus on the event. 

The following day, Sunday 27 April you can watch the pros tackle the course and battle it out in the last of the spring races. 

LBL Challenge

You can choose from three distances to ride; 79km, 155km or the full route of 253km. Whichever challenge you decide to take, you will ride the Cote de la Roche-aux-Faucons and Cote de Cortil. To ride the famous La Redoute you need to enter either the 155km or 253km ride. To support you through the weekend Sportive Breaks stay in Liege, with a mechanic and knowledgeable staff on hand to assist. We will also drive you to the start line of the Sportive and on the Sunday we run a mini bus to take you to heart of the race. 

2025  Pro Race

The day after the LBL Challenge, watch the Men’s and Women’s Elite take on the challenging route. Sportive Breaks will take you to one of the great viewing points on the race course. Package and Prices

Liège-Bastogne-Liège is the 4th Monument of the season. As it has been around for so long, it’s also called ‘La Doyenne des Classiques’ (the old lady of the classics). LBL marks the end of the Ardennes Classics period usually as Amstel Gold, Fleche Wallonne and LBL follow on from each other in a week. It also spells the end of the Spring Classics season as the next stop is the Giro d’Italia for many of the riders.

The professionals ride on Sunday and on Saturday it’s the turn of amateur riders to ride their LBL Challenge.

Please make your own arrangements to Liege or meet us at Brussels International Airport (Zaventem). We will run one transfer from the airport today at 11.30. Please allow an hour from your flight landing time to your transfer time, to allow you to get through passport control and collect your luggage. The transfer takes approximately 1 hour so we will get to Liege for about 12.30.

We will have your Sportive Entry available for you so no need to visit the expo today to collect your bib for tomorrow’s LBL challenge. If you have hired a bike with us, we will take you to collect your bike.

Today is the day! We have an early start this morning. Early breakfasts are arranged in the hotel restaurant. It’s 25km to the Sportive start location so we offer transport to get there. The challenge operates rolling start times rather than a mass start.

After breakfast we will head to Quai des Ardennes to enjoy the build up to the race. The race starts for about 09.15 and finishes at about 16.00.
After the riders are on the way, we provide a guided shuttle to watch the riders come past several times in different locations. We will be back in Liege for the finish.

If you’d prefer to rest your legs today, you can stay in Liege where there will be plenty of like-minded fans watching the race unfold in a cafe before heading outside to catch the finish.

In the afternoon, we will collect rental bikes plus we assist with re-packing your bikes for travel.

The Liege Bastogne Liege Sportive on Saturday 26 April is the hardest sportive of the spring classics. The full route of the Liege Bastogne Liege Sportive is a full 258km and a massive 4,400 metres of climbing – more than Stelvio Santini or the Etape du Tour! The following day on Sunday 27 April, the Pros tackle the 2025 Liege Bastogne Liege thus making this a great weekend to explore a rarely visited part of Belgium.

We offer a hotel for 3 nights in Liege so it’s easy to get to both the start and the finish of the Sportive as well as to watch the Pro race the next day. We offer transport to get to the start and back from the finish of the Sportive. For amateur riders, the ultimate challenge is to cover the entire distance of Liège-Bastogne-Liège like the pros the following day. Famous hills such as the Côte de Saint-Roch (the wall of Houffalize), Côte de Wanne, Côte de Stockeu will make an impression on the longest distance of the Liège-Bastogne-Liège Challenge.

Shorter distances of 147k and 70 km are also available with all Sportive distances starting and finishing near Liege.

Please note that the start and the finish of the LBL Challenge are no longer in the centre of Liege. The new start and finish location is in Banneux, rue de l’esplanade (4141 Banneux, Sprimont)

2026 Liege Bastogne Liege with Sportive Breaks

Sportive Breaks are here to support you taking on the hardest sportive of the spring classics. The full route of official Liege Bastogne Liege is a full 259km and a massive 4,400 metres of climbing – more than many other Sportives and around the same climbing as this year’s Etape du Tour!

A more manageable but still challenging 160km and 80km are also available. Also known as La Doyenne des Classiques, the old lady of classics features famous cycling climbs such as La Redoute and is one epic ride steeped in history. Let us take care of your trip so you can focus on the event. 

The 2026 edition of the Liege-Bastogne-Liege Challenge takes place on Saturday 25 April. The following day on Sunday 26th of April you can watch the pros tackle the course and battle it out in the last of the spring races. Tadej Pogacar won in imperious style in 2025. Kim Le Court from Mauritius broke though the Dutch dominance by beating Amy Pieterse and Demi Vollering.

LBL Challenge

You can choose from three distances to ride; 80km, 150km or the full route of 250km. Whichever challenge you decide to take, you will ride the Cote de la Roche-aux-Faucons and Cote de Cortil. To ride the famous La Redoute you need to enter either the 150km or 250km ride. To support you through the weekend Sportive Breaks stay in Liege, with a mechanic and knowledgeable staff on hand to assist. We will also drive you to the start line of the Sportive and on the Sunday we run a mini bus to take you to heart of the race.

Add on: Airport Transfer: We will run one transfer from the airport today at 11:30am. Please allow an hour from your flight landing time to your transfer time, to allow you to get through passport control and collect your luggage. The transfer takes approximately 1 hour, meaning our expected arrival time in to Liege will be around 12:30pm.

What about my bike?

You can bring your own bike as we have made arrangements to transport bike boxes on our airport transfers. Alternatively, you can rent a bike with us for the weekend. Our mechanic will be available this afternoon at the hotel to assist you with fitting your rental bike or building your own bike after travel. Bikes can be safely stored at the hotel.

We will have your Sportive entry available for you, so no need to visit the expo today to collect your bib for tomorrow’s LBL challenge. If you have hired a bike with us, we will take you to collect your bike.

Race Briefing

This evening our bike guides will do a race briefing to run through the LBL Challenge race day logistics and the route.

Ride

At 14:00pm this afternoon after bike building and fitting of rental bikes, join us on our guided ride. The ride will be around 30km and will be a chance for you to make sure your bike is set up correctly.  

Late afternoon and early evening, our tour leaders and bike mechanics are available for you. This afternoon you are free to enjoy the hotel’s facilities.  You are also free to eat your meal at the hotel or to explore some of Liege’s restaurants.

Getting to the start

For 2026 the Liege Bastogne Liege Challenge will start and finish in the town of Sprimont, 25km south of Liege. After breakfast, we will take you to Sprimont where your challenge awaits you! 

The challenge operates rolling start times rather than a mass start so you can pick what time you want to start the ride.

The return after the finish

We will have some food and drinks available at the finish and we will operate a shuttle service back to Liege based on when people finish.

Liege Bastogne Liege Challenge Weekend with Sportive Breaks

Join Sportive Breaks in April to Ride & Watch the oldest and toughest of the Spring Classics. The full route of Liege Bastogne Liege is 165 miles and a massive 14,400 feet climbing. Also known as “La Doyenne” or “The Old Lady” of the classics, the route includes some of the toughest climbs in the Belgian Ardennes, most famously the Cote de la Redoute. After completing this great feat yourself on Saturday, sit back and watch the pros race their final spring classic on Sunday, and enjoy this often overlooked and unique area of Belgium.

Stay at one of the best hotels in Liege: The Penta hotel is a 4* hotel located in the center of Liege.

Ride and watch: Ride the toughest of all the spring classics on Saturday and watch the Pros on Sunday.

Itinerary

Airport Transfer: An optional transfer from Brussels International Airport (BRU) is available, departing for Liege at 11:30 AM.  Please book arriving flights before 10 AM to allow you to clear customs and collect your luggage.  The transfer to Liege is approximately 1 hour so we expect to arrive at 12:30 PM.

Independent Arrival: Alternatively, make your own way to Liege to our hotel.

Your Bike: Our mechanic will be at the hotel this afternoon if you require any assistance with building your bike. If you rent a bike for the weekend, this will be available this afternoon.

Guided Ride: At 2 PM this afternoon, join us on our guided ride. We will ride out from our hotel on a short ride, to help loosen your legs after a long flight, and familiarize yourself with your new bike if you have chosen to rent.

This Evening: We will have a meal together at the hotel this evening. Our team will talk you through the plan for the weekend, and give you some advice ahead of the ride tomorrow. We will also hand out your start number for tomorrow, so you don’t need to travel to the expo to register.

An early breakfast is arranged in our hotel this morning. Rolling starts usually begin at 6:30 AM and transportation to the start is provided for all bikes and riders. Times below are approximate, based on previous years.

Our vehicle will wait at the Start/Finish area in Sprimont, and will provide shuttles back to our hotel through the afternoon.

After breakfast we travel to Quai des Ardennes to enjoy the build up to the race. The riders set off at 9:15 AM and return about 4:00 PM. We will then offer a shuttle service out onto the race route to watch the live action.
If you would prefer to rest your legs and spend the day in Liege, there will be plenty of like-minded fans watching the race unfold in a cafe before heading outside to catch the finish. The race organizers usually install a giant screen near the finish area to allow the public to watch the race.

In the evening, we will collect rental bikes, and assist with re-packing your bikes for travel.

We will run one airport transfer to Brussels Airport on departure at 09.00 for flights departing after 12.00. (available at a supplement)

The Liege Bastogne Liege Sportive is the hardest sportive of the spring classics. For amateur riders, the ultimate challenge is to do the long distance and ride the same route the pros will ride on the following day. You will climb Côte de Saint-Roch (the wall of Houffalize), Côte de Wanne, and Côte de Stockeu. 

Shorter distances of 95 miles and 50 miles are available. All Sportive distances start and finish near Liege.

Please note that the start and the finish of the LBL Challenge is no longer in the center of Liege. The Sportive now starts and finishes in Sprimont. Our package includes transfers for you and your bike between Liege and Sprimont.
