Europe’s most southerly northern classic celebrates its 11th edition in 2026. The Gran Fondo that covers the same gravel roads as the great champions of world cycling returns on Sunday 8th March 2026. The start is at the Fortezza Medicea (Medici Fortress) and the finish line is located in the splendid setting of Piazza del Campo. Our hotel is in the perfect location for the start and the finish. No hassles with transport or getting to and from the start and finish.
Participating riders can choose between the long Gran Fondo 138.5 km route (2000 metres of elevation gain and 9 gravel sections) or the shorter 87 km Medio Fondo route (1350 metres of elevation gain and 6 gravel sections).
Sportive Breaks are proud to be appointed as an OFFICIAL PREMIUM TOUR OPERATOR of the Gran Fondo Strade Bianche 2026. On Sunday 8 March 2026 you will be able to ride the Gran Fondo Strade Bianche 2026 on the white gravel roads around Siena, Tuscany. The day before on Saturday 7 March you will see both the elite women and the men take on the very same white gravel roads.
Stay at our 4* hotel in Siena and ride with a Giro d’Italia stage winner for the weekend; Andrea Ferrigato is Sportive Breaks tour leader in Italy. Take part in the Gran Fondo on Sunday and join Andrea on a guided ride with live viewing of the pro race on Saturday. We offer guaranteed entry for the Gran Fondo Strade Bianche 2026, as well as allowing you to choose which entry pen you want to start from. The start and finish are both in Siena at the Medici Fortress and the Piazza del Campo respectively. Grid 1-3 are positioned in Viale Cesare Maccari (between Fortezza Medicea and NH Hotel Siena) Grid 4 is in the parking under the Walls of the Fortress in front of the Stadium. All entry pens start right in front of our NH Hotel. Only with Sportive Breaks start at the front of the masses and select Pen 1 or Pen 2 entries. Pen 1 entries include exclusive access to hospitality at the finish in the Piazza del Campo.

The southernmost northern classic has only been in existence since 2007 but it has already established itself as a ‘must see’ and a ‘must do’ event. Itinerary
Day To Day
Please meet us at our hotel in Siena today where our team will be available to greet you. If you plan to fly then we offer airport transfers for you, your luggage and your bike from Pisa and Florence Airport in line with flights from the UK and Ireland. The journey to Siena takes about 1hr30 – 2 hours. Our mechanic is available this afternoon to fit rental bikes and to assist you with building your own bike after travel.
After breakfast and preparing the bikes, we will take you on a supported, guided ride that takes in some of the route of the Strade Bianche, before heading back to Siena in time to watch the pro men start their Strade Bianche and the women finish.
The location of our hotel in the centre of Siena is absolutely perfect as we are within walking distance of both the start at the Fortezza Medicea area and the finish on the Piazza del Campo.

You were able to see how the riders of the Men’s and Women’s cycling elite handled the white roads yesterday – today it’s your turn! Ride either the 139km route with 31 kilometres of gravel roads or 86 kilometres with 21 kilometres of gravel. The race largely shares the course with the Women Élite event. The route is twisty and undulating, with no lengthy climbs, but with punchy hills, especially on the unpaved parts.
The location of our hotel in the centre of Siena is absolutely perfect as we are within walking distance of both the start at the Fortezza Medicea area and the finish on the Piazza del Campo.
A private feed stop will be available on the course and we’ll assist with packing bikes after the race
After breakfast either make your own onward plans, or we offer our optional transfer back to Florence and Pisa Airport. We will depart Siena at 09:00am. Our airport transfer arrives in Florence at 10:00am in line with flights that depart after 12:00pm. We will arrive at Pisa for 11:30am, in line with flights that depart after 13:30pm. A one day classic born from a Sportive. The Strade Bianche has a unique history, starting in the late 90s when a group of local riders founded l’Eroica, a ride to celebrate the glory days of cycling over Tuscany’s famous white gravel roads. This became so popular that the professionals wanted a go and so the Strade Bianche was born. This is now firmly established as one of the best races of the calendar and makes for an amazing cycling weekend. The pro races for elite men and women are on Saturday and the Gran Fondo is on Sunday.
Sportive Breaks are an official tour operator for the Strade Bianche weekend. This means that we give you access to entries in Pen 1 and 2 that are usually not available to the general public. All our entries also include the obligatory Italian day license and you get an amazing entry pack. Our hotels are in the centre meaning you have just minutes to go to the start and back from the finish. Our local team is led by Giro d’Italia stage winner Andrea Ferrigato and his team of hosts and mechanics.
