More About the Flemish Cycling Week Tour with Sportive Breaks
The Spring Classics are a thrilling series of one-day races taking place in Belgium and northern France. The Spring Classics are traditionally the prestigious races in northern Europe, often characterised by tough cobbled sections and relentless effort. New in 2026 is the Sportive Breaks Flemish Cycling Week Tour. This is an 11-day tour that starts with E3 and finishes with the Tour of Flanders.
The Flemish Cycling Week (Vlaamse Wielerweek) is not a week at all. It spans from Wednesday to Sunday for 12 days from De Panne to the Tour of Flanders. The Wielerweek starts with Classic Brugge de Panne on the Wednesday. Followed by this is E3 Saxo Classic on Friday and Gent-Wevelgem in Flanders Fields on Sunday. Dwars door Vlaanderen takes place on Wednesday before the Tour of Flanders.
E3 Saxo Classic
The E3 Saxo Classic is one of the few Spring Classics that starts in the same place. The event has its 68th edition on Friday 27th March 2026. The event is a mini-Tour of Flanders as it includes famous cobbled bergs such as the Paterberg and Oude Kwarement. The race manages to produce a stellar line up of riders each year with Mathieu van der Poel, Wout van Aert and Mads Pedersen going head-to-head in 2025 with van der Poel being victorious yet again.
Gent-Wevelgem in Flanders Fields
Gent-Wevelgem in Flanders Fields starts from the Menin Gate in Ypres which is an impressive memorial to the victims of World War I. The finish comes 250 kilometres later in Wevelgem. De Moeren is a flat marshland where the wind can play a role. After this the riders head for a succession of climbs including the Monteberg, the Baneberg, the Scherpenberg and the Kemmelberg. The final section is a flat to the finish in Wevelgem.
Dwars door Vlaanderen
Dwars door Vlaanderen will have its 80th edition in 2026. It takes place mid-week before the Tour of Flanders and is therefore the penultimate stop of ‘Flemish Cycling Week’. The race covers about 180km with a start in Roeselare and finish in Waregem. The race includes many climbs in the Flemish Ardennes, including several cobbled roads.
Tour of Flanders
The first Sunday of April is the date of the Tour of Flanders. The Ronde van Vlaanderen is Belgium’s biggest sporting event, boasting enormous television audiences and thronged roadsides.
