Granfondo Lombardia

Lake Como is one of our favourite places in the world to ride with a lovely mix of climbs, lakeside routes and beautiful villages nestled into the hills. This sportive is the first big event in the area and comes on the same weekend as the Tour of Lombardy making this the ultimate season ending weekend. The sportive starts and ends in Como with four climbs including the legendary Ghisallo and the ridiculously steep Muro di Sormano. You can choose to stay in either Como or Bellagio. Our hotel in Bellagio is on the famed Ghissalo climb up to the cyclists church to make the perfect vantage point to watch the pro race.

Sportive Weekend Highlights

Sportive Weekend Highlights

  • Finish Your Season on Lake Como

Could there be a more glamorous way to finish your cycling season than on the shores of Lake Como. Jump on a ferry or have a glass of wine by the lake and reflect on your year on the bike.

  • Take on two classic climbs

The Granfondo is a nice season ender and not too difficult. That said, it takes in two absolutely classic climbs, the Ghisallo with sharp hairpins and a section at 14% and the mighty Muro di Sormano, one of the hardest climbs in professional cycling.

  • Discover the Ghisallo with a local host

On Saturday night, we take an excursion to the Ghisallo for a meal by the famous church. We have a private tour of the cycling museum and enjoy local food and stories of what Il Lombardia means to the people of this region.

Frequently Asked Questions

Getting There

Both Como & Bellagio are close to Milan. We collect from Milan Linate (LIN). Como is approx. a 1 hour transfer, Bellagio is just over 1hr30.

Documents Required

Either a signed medical certificate or UCI (British Cycling) racing license. We will be collecting copies of these from you prior to departure so we can collect your entry.

What to Pack

Early October in Como could be quite mild so bring a gilet and arm / leg warmers. The climbing is all quite low so there should not be any extreme weather. Some of the climbs are steep so a big ring on your rear cassette will be welcome.

Race packs can be collected on the morning of the event (from 6.30am) or on the Saturday (10am to 12pm and 2.30pm to 7.30pm) in Como.

Medical certificate or UK race license are essential and must be shown to collect race pack

Start & Finish

Start and finish in Como. The race starts at 7:30 with pens opening from 06:00
