Trip Suitability

This tour has been designed with riders of all abilities in mind. Our team of Adelaide locals are passionate about offering access to all riders to enjoy the event. On the 8-day tour you’ll join us to experience the entirety of the men’s race.

We keep the average daily ride distance for our core tour manageable at around 60km each day. It’s still worth noting the larger days can take on over 100km with 1,000m of climbing. Our hosts are experts and spend their spare time on these Adelaide roads, if you want extra km’s or less, we can definitely help out.

You will have a support vehicle on every one of our guided rides ensuring you have timely assistance for mechanicals, nutrition and anything else you may need to enjoy the experience.

Prices for the 2027 7-night Package 

  • $4,464 per person based on two people sharing a room (Twin or Double option)
  • $5,704 based on a single occupancy of a room.

Note: It is a requirement that you have Travel Insurance for your trip.

DAY ONE

Today we recommend you arrive into Adelaide before midday. Make your way to the Pullman Hotel and check-in to begin your experience in the prime CBD location. Our mechanic will be available to assist you with the assembly of your bike and any fine-tuning required to help your bike recover from the trip over!

Once you’ve had the chance to settle in and the group has arrived, we’ll take the bikes out for a quick spin up Adelaide’s most-popular climb so you can check your bike and wake up the legs for the week. 

Tonight we’ll enjoy our first group dinner at the hotel to get to know the faces you’ll be spending the week with!

DAY TWO

Date

Tuesday 20 January

Getting started with an early breakfast we’ll depart the hotel by bike, riding to a vantage point on today’s race route to watch the race live.

After the stage finishes, we’ll ride back to the hotel and load you up with our local knowledge so you can experience the best of Adelaide yourself with the evening free.

DAY THREE

Date

Wednesday 21 January 

Location

Adelaide, South Australia

After an early breakfast we’ll load up bikes and depart the hotel by vehicle to Tanunda; the start and finish location of today’s stage. Upon arrival, we’ll have time to ride the entire feature loop of today’s stage so you can experience it yourself on the bike before watching the pros take on 3 laps themselves. Once the stage finishes and the Ochre Jersey is awarded we’ll load bikes back up vehicle and set off to one of the famed Barossa Valley’s leading wineries for a tasting experience. You’ll have the full opportunity to sample some fantastic wines as we will transfer you back to the hotel. The rest of the evening is free for you to explore Adelaide.

DAY FOUR

Thursday 22 January

Today is an early start as we depart on the bike for a short ride to Norwood, the start of today’s Adelaide Eipc Ride

In Uraidla we will have a change of clothes ready for you to change into so you can enjoy the festivities of today’s stage and watch the finish of the event, we will have transfers back to the hotel.

We will join our 4-night Final Weekend Tour for a combined group dinner tonight.

DAY FIVE

Friday 23 January

After breakfast, we will roll out of the hotel to the stunning coastal town of Glenelg to watch the start of the race. Once the pros have departed, we will enjoy a group ride in the Adelaide Hills before stopping for lunch and to watch the finish of today’s stage on the TV.

DAY SIX

Saturday 24 January

For everyone with the legs to hop on the bike again after breakfast we will depart early to make the pilgrimage out to Willunga hill. Enjoy a morning rolling along the spectacular coastline and through one of South Australia’s famous wine regions of McLaren Vale. One final climb will take you up the famous Willunga Hill to our Marquee set up for prime-viewing of the stage finale.

 

Anyone choosing not to ride will be transported from the hotel to the top of the hill to make a short walk down to the Sportive Breaks marquee.

DAY SEVEN

After breakfast we will depart the hotel on bikes for a leisurely coastal ride before returning to the hotel.  You will have time to store your bike and freshen up before we walk from the hotel to watch the final stage of this year’s Santos Tour Down Under.  

We will take up prime position to watch the peloton complete multiple loops of the Adelaide CBD circuit. 

Tonight we will enjoy our group farewell dinner

Daily Rides

We offer a guided ride each day. We have an experienced local Adelaide rider as your bike guide on the road with you. We also have a support vehicle with a driver. We will ride to and from the hotel each day to engage with the day’s stage, the support vehicle will always be close by in case we have any mechanical issues or if you are not feeling up to riding the whole distance.  On some occasions we may have 2 ride options for the day, these will be communicated as short ride and long ride. 

Transportation

We will have the support vehicle close to the riding group at all times, the support vehicle will the rider’s day pack, sports hydration powders, water, and some refreshments.

If the day’s stage is a long distance that we can’t safely cover by bike we will arrange additional transport, see itinerary for details.

Who is this tour for?

Our tours are all about enjoyment and safety, you must be used to riding in a group. This tour involves riding to and from the hotel daily, includes watching each stage live with most from our road side marquee. We have picnic lunches available.

Riding: Ride 2 to 3 times a week / Average ride distance:  50km+ kilometres | Average ride elevation: Comfortable with 1000+ meters | Average Riding Time: Comfortable being in the saddle for 4+ Hours

My fitness and experience: Fitness is central to my life. I ride my bike regularly every week and am comfortable with rides of 3-4 hours or more at a relatively steady pace. I enjoy all-terrain, with hills and some moderate mountain passes. I like getting some speed on moderate descents.
