Mountain Bike Cross-Country
6th August the Mountain Bike Marathon will take place between the 8th-12th August, the worlds best cyclists will attack the trails in the legendary Glentress Forest famous for technical climbs and fast descents.

After a mass start the riders will take on this epic course covering 100km it will push the riders to their limits across road, gravel, punishing climbs and long descents. Line the trails and cheer on these unbelievable cyclists and witness a new world champion take the rainbow stripes!
Mountain Bike Cross-Country
With a mixture of events there is something for everyone to enjoy watching. The riders will take on this challenging terrain testing their strength, endurance and grit over the duration of the race which lasts over an hour long. Cross-Country short track burns the riders legs for a intense 20 minute race with laps of 1-1.5KM long. Riders can share the pain with the Cross-Country Team Relay. Extra technical sections will be added for the riders taking on the course with Electric Mountain bikes but don’t be fooled this is still a challenging race with the help of electric!

More About the Event
The 2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships will take place in Glasgow and Scotland. the venues for the two events will be confirmed at a later date. The event brings together qualifying cyclists from all over the world. The winner in each age group will have the honour of wearing the coveted rainbow jersey for a year as official UCI Gran Fondo world champion.
Launched in 2011, the UCI Gran Fondo World Series (formerly known as the UCI World Cycling Tour) is a series of UCI-sanctioned road races held all over the world. Throughout the 2022-2023 season, a series of events will qualify the top 20% in each age group for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships. The age group winners of the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships are awarded the UCI rainbow jersey. The qualifier events are open to riders of all levels: those who aim to make the podium and others who wish to cross the finish line in the best possible time. The Gran Fondo and Medio Fondo take place on Friday 4th August 2023 with a route that starts and finishes in a location to be confirmed in Scotland. The Time Trial takes place on Monday 7th August in a location TBC.

Stirling will provide the stage for some of the world’s best cyclists after being announced as the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships time trial venue as part of the biggest cycling event ever held.
