Grand Depart Barcelona 2026

Experience the biggest Grand Tour and the world’s largest annual sporting event in France with Sportive Breaks

The 113th edition of the world’s largest annual cycling event will be held in July 2026. Starting in Barcelona with a dramatic team time trial past the Sagrada Família and up Montjuïc, this year’s route is built for climbers and tacticians. The early stages in Spain offer coastal flair and punchy ascents, especially Stage 2’s triple climb to Montjuïc Castle. Stage 3 crosses into France with a summit finish at Pla del Mir ski resort, marking the start of serious altitude.

The Pyrenees arrive early, with Stage 6 featuring the Col d’Aspin and Col du Tourmalet, leading to a first-ever finish at Cirque de Gavarnie. The second week brings the Massif Central, including Puy Mary Pas de Peyrol and Col du Pertus on Bastille Day.
The final showdown unfolds in the Alps, with back-to-back summit finishes on Alpe d’Huez, plus legendary climbs like Col du Galibier and Col de la Croix de Fer. With over 54,000 meters of elevation gain and limited sprint stages, this route rewards endurance, climbing strength, and tactical brilliance.

Sportive Breaks offer unforgettable cycling and spectator tours with hotels, transport, and daily support all included.

Tour options for 2026 include:

I thoroughly enjoyed my tour de France tour! Our guide Dave was excellent! Looked after the whole group, gave us great advice about what the rides were like and always helped us where he could. Thanks Dave and the rest of the crew.

Wonderful trip, challenging rides, excellent guides, mechanic and driver. All staff were exceptional. Dave’s herding of cats a real talent!

Alpe d'Huez to Mont Ventoux
Some things were done particularly well. 1. Several nights in the one locality was a good idea. 2. Good selection of rides. 3. Right mix of riding and tourist and leisure activity.
