Hints and Tips for Mallorca 312

Mallorca 312 OK Mobility is one of the most popular Sportive/ Gran Fondo cycling events in Europe. In 2026 the event sold out again in record time. On Saturday 25 April  2026 8500 lucky amateur riders lined  up at the start line in Playa de Muro close to the tourist hub of Alcudia in the north of Mallorca. An attractive feature is that riders can decide on event day if they want to tackle the 312km, 225km, or 167km event distance.

Sportive Breaks rider Chris Breckon shares his tips for riding the event

  1. Get into the pen early! Last year the pen was scheduled to open at 5:30am but I was in at 5:15am and there was still a lot of people in front. Being at the front of your pen once it starts moving is the best way to ensure a faster overall pace at the end of the day, or if you are anxious about making cut off times, be early into your pen!
  2. Use the Sportive Breaks feed stops rather than the official feed stops, they are much faster and less chaotic than the official feed stops. Last year I did the 312km and only stopped twice at the Sportive Breaks stops and it worked out perfectly. Please note that feed stops offered by Sportive Breaks are subject to authorisation by the race organisers
  3. Definitely recommended to have a personal bag at each of the two Sportive Breaks feed stops. In the personal bags put your own nutrition and anything you will need rather than relying on things that are provided at the feed stop. You should ideally be using nutrition that you are familiar with and have used in training, the Mallorca 312 is not the day to be trying new things and new mixtures of food in your stomach! Please note that feed stops offered by Sportive Breaks are subject to authorisation by the race organisers
  4. Be aware if doing the 312km and 225km routes that the official feed stops are combined towards the end of the route with the 167km riders again, so are very busy and chaotic by the time you get there as the 167km riders are probably there before you.
  5. Always keep to the right and overtake on the left! Do not overtake people on their right hand side. This is especially true in the first 10km when everybody is full of adrenaline and going fast pace. Be aware of people who will be overtaking on your left and keep the left hand channel open for the faster riders to overtake. This is also very important on the downhills, keep to the right and do not unintentionally block the road for faster riders coming behind you at speed.
  6. Take care on the downhills! Do not take risks with your ability level, go at the speed where you are comfortable and in control.
  7. If you are doing the 312km distance, be aware that after the turn off for the 225km option the next 40 to 50 km are on fairly old back lanes with several 90° turns and junctions with several short sharp ramps, so it is definitely not the nice fast and smooth roads and it is quite exhausting still even though the profile looks flat. Best to get in a group and just sit on the back and ride together.
  8. Enjoy the atmosphere and show appreciation to the spectators that will be cheering you on through the villages. They always respond when you wave or smile back to them. Do not drop litter and do not take a nature break in a place that is not appropriate or might cause an issue. Respect the roads and those that you share the roads with!

Enjoy!
