Trip Highlights

Trip Highlights

  • The Classic Coast to Coast Ride

On Satuday, we ride the classic route on the island from Andratx to Port de Pollensa. This takes us along the coast the whole way home over Puig Major before descending home.

  • Discover the real Mallorca

On Friday, we had inland to the quiet country lanes to see the heart of the island. This middle of Mallorca is full of small villages and farmland with a couple of great small climbs.

  • Sa Calobra

One of the world's great climbs - Sa Calobra is a feat of engineering with its twists and turns. Remarkably, the road leads to nowhere but makes for an unbelievable descent and a tough but fun climb.

  • Cap de Formantor

Ride the classic lighthouse route from Port de Pollensa to Cap Formentor. This 45km out and back goes over rolling hills and hugs the coast. Stunning.

Itinerary

Wednesday | Arrival Day

Arrive in Palma for your transfer to the hotel. On the first evening, enjoy dinner by the beach and get your bike ready for tomorrow.

Thursday | Sa Calobra

A big ride to kick off, heading to the toughest climb on the mountain, the 9.5km beast of Sa Calobra. This is an incredible descent down to the coast before a tough but stunning climb averaging 7%.

Friday | Into the Heart of Mallorca

An easier day as we head into the centre of Mallorca across the quiet lanes. We ride past small local towns down to the classic climb of Puig Randa, offering wide views of the whole island from the top.

Saturday | Coast to Coast

We get a transfer from the hotel to Port Andratx and then ride all the way home along the coast. The ride hugs the coast for large parts through the pretty towns of Deia & Soller before the long climb of Puig Major and then a thrilling descent home.

Sunday | Lighthouse Ride

On last ride on Sunday morning. Straight out of the hotel we head to the remote Cap de Formentor, a stunning 45km out and back ride over rolling hills never far from the coast. We get back late morning with time to pack up the bikes and relax before a late afternoon transfer back to Palma.

What to Bring

There are no super steep climbs on the itinerary so normal gearing (50/34, 11/28) is fine. Check the weather forecast before leaving but expect to wear arm warmers (and maybe knee warmers) in the morning and a gilet and lightweight wind jacket for the long descents.
The evenings can be cooler so bring appropriate clothing.

Discover Port de Pollensa

We are based for the long weekend in the lovely town of Port de Pollensa. You can happy spend your time relaxing on the hotel terrace or stroll into town. If you want more adventure, you can hike round the coast or catch a bus to the nearby town of Pollensa with its pretty town square and famous steps up to a church with a market on Sunday. If you are planning to come and not ride, give us a call so we can help plan your time.

Stage One - Stage Two

Stage One

From Port de Pollensa to Port de Pollensa

Ride Distance 130km
Elevation Gain 2721m

The most famous climb on the island is the stunning Sa Calobra. To get there, we head up the Coll de Femenia, a great morning climb. We then ride on a ridge with great sea views before the descent of Sa Calobra - quick and amazingly fun. The climb is the toughest on the island with steady 7 & 8% gradients getting us back to a coffee stop at the top. We come back through a different descent home.

Stage Two

From Port de Pollensa to Port de Pollensa

Ride Distance 99km
Elevation Gain 686m

An easier day exploring the quiet lanes and countryside of the middle of Mallorca. This is a chance to see a different side of the island, away from the tourists. The villages in the middle are sleepy and traditional with a very slow paced life. We ride through quiet lanes and past the famous market town of Sineu before heading back through the popular coffee and cake spot of Petra and home along the coast from Alcudia.
